Certifications: DONA International
DONA International is a nonprofit organization, which means that DONA International works only to serve our doulas and members and to carry out our mission. Our organization exists to support doulas professionally and advance our vision of a doula for every person who wants one.
Our Trainings are approved by medicaid in multiple states. For example in our Home State the training qualifies for the completion of the Oregon Health Authority THW DOULA Credential qualifying you to receive Medicaid (OHP Reimbursement) and contract with states like Oregon, Washington, California, Nevada, Colorado, Arizona and more.
Network Childbirth Educators: Childbirth educators provide information and support to prospective parents and family members to prepare them for pregnancy, labor, birth and parenthood. Many childbirth educators work part-time or on an as-needed basis, so positions are often flexible and a great way to supplement your income.
The Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator (LCCE) credential is internationally respected and the only childbirth educator program that has passed rigorous standards set by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA).
Mother Tree International is the longest-standing doula training organization in Oregon, with over 25 years of continuous operation and more doulas trained than all other Oregon programs combined. Founded by Jesse Remer, a founding member of the Oregon Doula Association and former Policy & Advisory Chair and Education Chair, Mother Tree has played a central role in shaping Oregon’s doula workforce, professional standards, and systems integration. Mother Tree was integral in developing integrated hospital doula models at Providence and OHSU. Its sister organization, Gateway Doula Group, operates an open-hub doula membership model that bills Medicaid and private insurance and pays doulas upon submission for clean claims — eliminating long payment delays and stabilizing the doula workforce. Together, Mother Tree and Gateway form a nationally recognized ecosystem for training, credentialing, workforce development, hospital integration, and equitable access to doula care.
