The mission of Gateway Doula Project is to recruit and train a diverse set of doulas who represent a variety of backgrounds, languages spoken, cultures, and communities to provide the most comprehensive, culturally specific and empowering services possible to our clients.
Our mission since our inception has been to create a unifying, inclusive, statewide professional organization for all doulas. Due to current, overt racist practices in this nation against Black people, we have shifted our focus to support the Black Lives Matter movement and heightened our efforts to amplify the voices and needs of Black families and Black Doulas.
Verified Doula Badge for community doulas & midwives: Legacy supports professional doulas as part of the Legacy Care Team on all our Family Birth Center units. Professional doulas are not considered visitors. These doulas will wear a purple badge titled “Verified Doula”. This badge means the doula has met the criteria to receive a badge and can support their clients at any Legacy facility as a part of our care team.

doulamatch.net has been connecting Families and Doulas Since 2008, with a community spanning all major cities in the US and Canada with over 10,000 doulas and 50,000 reviews. Their site was developed to help expectant families quickly and efficiently find doulas who are available during their due dates. It’s also a great place to get a baseline understanding of each doula’s training, certification, and experience levels.
